In juni organiseert het Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds (NMF) wederom het ‘Weekend van het NMF’: een heuse marathon door Nederland van 43 kamermuziekconcerten door musici van het NMF op historische en bijzondere architectonische locaties van Erfgoedvereniging Heemschut. Zo treedt zondagmiddag 7 juni het Nederlands Jeugd Gitaarorkest olv Peter Constant op in de Synagoge van Groningen. Het orkest, dat dit jaar haar 10-jarig jubileum viert, heeft sinds 2007 een prachtige basgitaar en 2 octaafgitaren van de Australische meester luthier Graham Caldersmith in bruikleen van het NMF.

Het programma is in zomerse sfeer en brengt naast een geliefd Vivaldi concerto imposante composities zoals ‘Birds of Paradise’ van de Australische componist Gerard Brophy en ‘Fantasia de los Ecos’ van de Cubaan Leo Brouwer.

The Maastricht Guitar Society is excited to present the Ukranian guitar phenom Marko Topchii in the groote zaal of the Gasthuis Calvarienberg, Abtstraat 2a. Marko is one of the most successful competition winners on the international circuit at the moment with more than 50 awards in competitions and a recent performance in Carnegie hall. The concert opener will be the Conservatorium Guitar classe’s own Alexander Feldman!

Marko has won more than 50 awards worldwide in the international guitar competitions in the professional category. Among them, 26 first places in the competitions in United States, Mexico, Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Liechtenstein, Serbia and Ukraine. The most notable prizes is available in the “awards” section. He plays guitars made by Karl-Heinz Roemmich, Yuichi Imai, Sakurai Kohno and Hong Sik Uhm. Marko is a D’Addario artist since 2012. Marko actively performs around the world, regularly gives concerts with the orchestra; he is desired teacher of the master classes and constantly mentioned in the mass media. Marko Topchii was born into a family of musicians in Kiev, Ukraine and is started studying guitar at the age of four. He is 24 years old and is currently pursuing a doctorate degree at the Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music in Kiev under the guidance of Prof. Yuri Alexik, Honored Artist of Ukraine. He completed his master degree in the National University of Arts in Kharkov in 2011, where he studied under Prof. Volodymir Dotsenko, Honored Artist of Ukraine. Een graag geziene gast op de internationale concertpodia dat is het Montenegrin Guitar Duo (Goran Krivokapic en Danijel Cerovic). Zo waren ze o.a. al te horen en te zien bij het Kotor Art Festival, Koblenz International Guitar Festival en het Shenyang International Guitar Festival en nu dus in Groningen voor het openingsconcert van het eerste European Guitar Concerto Competition & Festival.

Ze reizen de wereld rond voor recitals, voor concerten met orkest, geven masterclasses, lezingen over het arrangeren van de muziek van J.S.Bach en worden veelvuldig gevraagd om plaats te nemen in jury`s. Ze worden geroemd door zowel publiek als critici voor hun historisch verantwoorde uitvoeringen van de Engelse Suites van J.S.Bach.

Voor het openingsconcert in ons festival staat naast de muziek van Bach, ook
de zeer gepassioneerde muziek van Astor Piazzolla en Manuel de Falla op het programma.

Dimitri Bardas and Aldo Likafi come from Greece and played on stages in Greece, Spain and the Netherlands. They live in the Netherlands.
On Saturday, June 25, they are going to perform in the Stefanuskerk, in Groningen.
They are going to play both as soloists and as a duo.
Their music programme includes pieces by well known flamenco-guitar players such as, Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo, Sabicas and others.
They will also play a new piece, composed by the Dutch composer Peter Nagtzaam.
The concert starts at 15.00 o’clock and the entrance will be free.
